  I don't know how many movies filmed in Istanbul but one of the best Bond movies , From Russia with Love, was filmed in Istanbul in 1964. I am sure many of you remember that Sean Connery was acting as 007, for most people he is the best Bond ever. I dont't know if he is the best Bond but to me , Istanbul is the best place to film a movie. In the movie Bond has visited the following places during his journey in Istanbul.

1- Hagia Sophia; The church of holy Wisdom, one of the best surviving examples of Roman architecture of 6th century.After being used as a Christian church for a 1000 years it was converted into a Muslim mosque with the conquest of Constantinople by Ottoman Turks in 1453 and served the new inhabitants of the city for about 500 years and then Ataturk, the founder of Turkish Republic, converted Hagia Sophia to a museum in 1935. And since then, it is a museum.

2- Basilica Cistern; The largest cistern of Romans in Istanbul with 336 columns in different orders. One of the best attractions in the city. Definitely a must for travellers.

3- Grand Bazaar in Istanbul is one of the largest covered markets in the world with 60 streets and 5,000 shops, and attracts between 250,000 and 400,000 visitors daily. It is well known for its jewellery, hand-painted ceramics, carpets, embroideries, spices and antique shops. Many of the stalls in the bazaar are grouped by type of goods, with special areas for leather, gold jewellery and the like. The bazaar has been an important trading centre since 1461 and its labyrinthine vaults feature two bedestens (domed buildings), the first of which was constructed between 1455 and 1461 by the order of Sultan Mehmed the Conqueror. The bazaar was vastly enlarged in the 16th century, during the reign of Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent, and in 1894 underwent a major restoration following an earthquake.

4-Bosphorus Cruise; Bosphorus is a strait separating two continents;Asia and Europe.It connects the Black Sea to The Sea of Marmara.Once you come to Istanbul ,you must see it.Boat tour takes about two hours and during the tour you will see two suspension bridges,two castles,three palaces and beautiful wooden houses on the sea shore.
